Dignity-First Approach

Empowering Durable Livelihoods

FishTank is a philanthropy initiative by the Legal Aid Society. We believe that true empowerment comes not from temporary relief, but from the dignity of work. Our mission is to break the cycle of poverty by providing the tools, training, and capital necessary for individuals to launch their own micro-enterprises.

Every dollar donated goes directly into tangible assets - be it a rickshaw, a sewing machine, or shop inventory - creating a ripple effect of stability for entire families.

Income restarted. Families stabilized. Dignity restored.

Ensuring every investment creates a lasting impact through a structured six-step methodology.

What is Fish Tank, in simple terms? expand_more
Fish Tank is a livelihood restoration initiative by the Legal Aid Society that helps economically vulnerable individuals build small, sustainable businesses. Instead of short-term aid or cash handouts, Fish Tank invests in income-generating micro-enterprises that restore stability, dignity, and independence.
Who does Fish Tank support? expand_more
Fish Tank supports individuals who are economically vulnerable. All beneficiaries are thoroughly vetted and selected based on financial need and a viable business idea.
Is Fish Tank a charity handout or a loan program? expand_more
Neither. Fish Tank is not cash assistance and not a loan or microfinance scheme. It is a direct livelihood investment: LAS procures assets, tools, or inputs needed to start or stabilize a business, without creating debt or dependency.
Are there any administrative or overhead costs? expand_more
No. 100% of all contributions go directly into livelihoods. There are zero administrative deductions from donor contributions. Program management, vetting, and monitoring are absorbed by LAS.
